📓
OVERVIEW

5-year college starter between two programs who has a novel body type; he's uniquely small for the offensive line and is a true outlier because of that ... but damnit he's a good player. He's athletic, extremely tough, smart, versatile and stronger than you'd think. He's probably limited to center in the NFL, and only so many teams will feature a center at his size, but I think there's enough there for him to compete in the NFL. He did not look overmatched in the ACC and he had a good week in Mobile vs top competition. If it doesn't work out he could move to FB/TE, but I think he can be a starting center in the right situation.

Usage/Body Type/Play Personality
- Accustomed to playing from a 3-point stance
- Extremely undersized; built more like a fullback or big tight end than a center. Short arms for an interior OL; unsure how much more weight he can add on; he looks maxed out. May have to switch positions.
- 61 career starts and 4,122 snaps over 5 seasons makes him the most experienced interior lineman of anyone drafted in the last decade
- Extensive experience at all 3 interior O-Line spots (1,712 snaps at LG, 1,473 at RG, 937 at C); played all three spots in practice at the Senior Bowl
- Love the way he battles on contact every snap. Runs his feet through the echo of every whistle. Wants to get guys on the ground.
- 32 penalties; his five this year are his lowest in a season since 2020 (had 9 each of the past two seasons)
- Undefeated 2A State Champion Wrestler in high school
- I thought he was awesome at the Senior Bowl; earned one of my All-Practice Team awards. I was worried about his size but I loved the way he competed throughout the week. Didn’t take any shit from anyone. Performed better than expected; I thought it was a typo when I read his measurements for the first time.
- Not invited to the Combine

Physical Tools
- Great athlete. Explosive traits; gets from A to B quickly to protect his edge. Good feet in reverse. Unique lateral quickness. Rarely on the ground.
- Gets knockback; jars guys on contact but is not a power guy. Struggles to get movement at the point of attack one-on-one. Works well on double teams but this is what ultimately probably makes him a center only if he sticks to the trenches.
- Just by the nature of his frame he's going to get ragdolled at times; some ugly reps vs top NTs on the schedule
- Stronger anchor than I thought given his size; never saw him overwhelmed by a bull rusher

Pass Game
- Good quick sets; knows what his limitations are and doesn't want linemen to hit him with a runway. He wants to take away space fast and he does.
- Able to sink his hips and drop his anchor with good timing vs bull rushers when they do come at him from distance.
- Fast eyes to recognize stunts and twists. HIs experience shows up on film.
- Very quick to replace his hands if they get wiped away
- Was credited with 0 sacks allowed in two seasons at UNC with just 4 QB Hits (PFF)

Run Game
- Natural leverage absolutely works in his favor into contact. Hands and grip strength are impressive; big hands show up on tape.
- Can be slow to throw his hands at times and that got him in trouble. That said he can reset after poor placement; wrestling background shows up. He just finds a way to win the rep.
- Natural puller on Gap schemes and he’s excellent when left uncovered. Climbs up to the second level with ease, latches onto LBs and finishes.
